Mission

My personal war

Rodents, or rats as they are more commonly known, are astute and very intelligent animals - often more so than man - says Massimo Donadon, the founder and president of Mayer Braün Deutschland.
They actually communicate with each other and warn other rats about any dangerous situations.

They live in groups of at least eight and have a group leader that is usually the oldest rat. This group leader monitors the situation and warns the others when members of the group display suspicious symptoms.
This is why we decided to perfect a poison that can kill in one or two days at most and more importantly without any pain. This is the only way to ensure that our rodent enemies do not become suspicious and realise that something is wrong. It means that they do not have time to react or reorganise the group.

Our baits contain a mummifying agent, which dehydrates the animal and prevents it from decomposing and passing on disease, plus they contain denatonium benzoate to repel domestic pets.

But the determining factor lies in aromatizing the baits. This is where the battle really starts. The quest to find exclusive aromas, smells and flavours is the secret of our products’ success.

Our tasty treats, made in Treviso, smell of chocolate, salmon, apple, toasted bread, orange and vanilla which are irresistible to the fussiest palates. Their characteristics are unique and can be smelled from a distance of 25 metres. In fact, the idea of using differentiated baits demonstrates Massimo Donadon’s amazing intuition.

The same bait cannot be used everywhere as rats have different eating habits which correspond to the eating habits of the people with whom they share an environment.
Rubbish and waste offer a massive self-service restaurant for rats, and 3-5 % of the food that we purchase ends up in rubbish bins. The main ingredients available from this super-canteen are obviously those which are most prominent in our diets: margarine in New York, butter in Paris, fast-food leftovers in London, fish in Chile, and dates in Arab countries.

If we use unusual baits, the rats do not recognise them and are wary, which means that we don’t get any results. This is why we thought of studying man before offering the rats their favourite menu.

The unfortunate rats confronted by Mayer Braün find themselves with products containing popcorn, sunflower seeds, flaked grain, candyfloss, and even plastic. The quality of our raw materials is unique which is why our products have achieved such success and approval in ridding some of the world’s most complex cities of rats (New York, London, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and Dubai).
